David Archer

David Archer has over 20 years’ consulting experience in the public and private sector, following a career in systems engineering and academic research.
Examples of client experience
David’s recent client experience includes working with the MD and the Executive team of Tubelines as they moved from being privately owned into being part of Transport for London, this follows extensive experience of running leadership development and change management projects in London Underground and coaching the MetroNet Executive team through a similar private sector to public sector transition.
He has had a long term association with May Gurney Infrastructure Services where, as well as supporting senior managers on their own development plans, he has been responsible for the culture change elements of a number of their successful long term partnership contracts with County Councils across the country.
He works with leaders in many Central Government Departments including DEFRA, Dept of Health, Dept for Transport, the Ministry of Justice and the devolved administration in Scotland, where he also worked for the Lord President and other members of the Scottish Judiciary on their relationship with the Scottish Court Service.
Professional Expertise and Qualifications
David works with leaders and their teams to build relationships across internal or external organisational boundaries and to deliver lasting business results. His specific expertise is in; collaborative leadership development, facilitating senior teams, building trust in multi-organisational groups, and designing strategic change initiatives.
Before working as a management consultant David was a senior lecturer in Electrical & Electronic Systems at the University of Hertfordshire where he led BSc and MSc programmes as well as externally funded research projects. David is an Engineering graduate from Emmanuel College Cambridge and is a chartered member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. He is qualified in the use of FIRO-B and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). In 2009 he was elected as a Trustee to the Board of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
