Advising organisations working in partnership

Getting different organisations to work in partnership is always a significant leadership challenge. Whether it is relationship based on a formal partnership contract or something much more unstructured, the leadership journey follows a similar pattern; from deciding on the strategic needs of the relationship, selecting the right partners, right up to the stage where a particular relationship has run its course or the world has moved on and the strategy needs to change. We can offer advice to individual leaders and joint steering groups/Partnership Boards throughout this whole lifecycle.

A common barrier to different organisations performing efficiently together is the issue of organisational culture. People on both sides of the boundary will often say – ‘if only they could be more like us’, forgetting that often it’s that very difference that creates the value or the necessity of collaborative working in the first place. We understand organisational culture and have created a questionnaire based tool (the OPI) specifically to help organisations gain knowledge of; how they work with others, the contribution they typically bring to a relationship, and some of their characteristic blind spots, to enable them to work more effectively in partnership with different cultures.
