Back in 2002, David and Alex could see the world becoming more interconnected, and that the leaders that were going to thrive were those who could collaborate effectively. Reflecting about the nature of collaboration resulted in the creation of Socia and in our book Collaborative Leadership: Building Relationships, Handling Conflict and Sharing Control.
Our clients across the public, private and charity sectors have become our partners over the last 20 years at a time when collaboration has become the essential leadership capability to enable business to thrive in the 21st century.
Collaboration in the boardroom now dominates Socia’s work. Successful Boards are those that can demonstrate strong collaborative capabilities with stakeholders, but also between executives and non-executives and trustees.
An opportunity for celebration and reflection
At Socia we believe that our 20-year anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate with our loyal clients who have worked with us, sharing our joint experience, and noting our achievements.
But Socia is always about moving forward. Throughout this year we are exploring the future of collaboration in business and particularly in the boardroom. Our first publication on this topic is on Post Pandemic Collaboration and our second, Collaboration then and now, reflects on the discussions at our anniversary dinner in June and the changes we have seen in attitudes towards collaboration over the last 20 years. We will be publishing further reflections on our conversations with clients and colleagues so watch this space!
